When you purchase a Blackbird Fabrics class or workshop, you agree to all of our event policies.
Refunds & Exchanges
All sales are final. Please ensure that you are able to attend all scheduled days prior to signing up or completing your purchase. We will not be able to issue refunds or exchanges once you have completed your order.
In the unlikely event that a workshop or class needs to be rescheduled or cancelled, Blackbird Fabrics is not responsible for lost travel and/or lodging expenses. You will be notified at the earliest possible moment if there are any issues with your confirmed course. If an event is cancelled due to instructor issues, studio mishaps, or general acts of god, you will be refunded in full. Please be aware that our events will run as scheduled, rain or shine.
We reserve the right to substitute or replace teachers at our discretion in order to facilitate the scheduled workshop or class.
Due to space limitations and attendee engagement, our events will be limited to a select number of spots. Only registered students may sit in. As we are a smaller studio, children or guardians may not sit in unless they have also registered for a space. Unless specified in the course listing, we have a minimum age of 16 for all events. Sorry kiddos!
If you have any food allergies or allergen issues that may cause discomfort during the hours of the workshop or class, please inform us prior to the scheduled day and we will be happy to assist. As we will provide food and drink for all occasions, this information is greatly appreciated and will allow us to support you to the best of our abilities.
If you are required to bring anything to the class, it will be detailed in the course listing. Otherwise, all necessary items will be provided for use during the workshop or class.
The main focus of every course is learning new skills that will help in all future me-made makes and crafty adventures! For project based courses, we cannot guarantee that you will complete your project by the end of the scheduled work day.
Location, Time, & Accessibility
All events will be held at our studio located at 1236 Frances Street in Vancouver (half a block west of the Clark and Frances cross streets).
To access the studio, there are two front steps to reach our main lobby level. At this time we are unable to provide wheelchair access, although we are working towards updating this for our future events. There are no designated accessible parking spots near our location, as everything is first-come-first-serve and residential street parking. If you would like to take part in our of our events, but have questions or concerns regarding accessibility within the workshop space, please contact us to discuss. We are committed to making our workshops and events inclusive for everyone.
If using transit, the #22 bus is best option in either direction. The #14, #16, and #20 have a stop at Clark and East Hastings which is a short 2.5 block walk from our studio. However, we are only a short commute from Commercial Drive, and a 30 minute walk from either Commercial or VCC Skytrain stations.
If driving, there is first-come-first-serve street parking right outside of the studio. If the street is full, the residential area located around the studio may offer more spots. With all locations, please use caution when leaving anything in the vehicle and follow all municipal parking signs. Parking is at your discretion.
We will start on time. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time for set-up, to mingle with the rest of the attendees, and to grab a snack!
All students registered will receive 15% off fabric and notions. For classes over 3 hours in length, purchases must be made in the studio and the discount cannot be applied to later purchases. For shorter classes, a one-time-use workshop specific coupon code will be given in-class. Please note, coupon codes will not apply to workshops, markdowns, sales, or remnants.
Risk of Injury
We want you to have an absolute blast with us! Sewing can be a wonderful and fruitful experience, but know that it does involve the use of scissors, cutter, sharp pins, and other notions that can cause injury if improperly used. Furthermore, as our workshops are in groups of 6-12 people, there is an inherent risk of catching a cold of flu from working within a group of individuals. We ask that all attendees use proper precautions to alleviate the spread of illness. Blackbird Fabrics is not responsible for any illness, injuries, damages, or harm caused during or as a result of your class or workshop.
Blackbird Fabrics reserves to right to update our class policies at anytime and without notice.
