SHIPPING

All orders are processed and shipped via Canada Post or FedEx® from our warehouse in Vancouver, Canada. Pickup is also available for local customers! Please see below for more details.

Once received, orders will ship within 4-6 business days or within 2 business days for local pick-up orders. Please note that orders placed during a sale period are not subject to our regular 5 business day shipping window, expect delays of up to 3 weeks. Please refer to the lead time posted at checkout for the most up to date estimate. The day your package is shipped, you will receive a shipping notification email with your tracking number. 

Once a package leaves our warehouse, we are not responsible for transit delays that may occur due to weather, customs, or other unforeseen circumstances. If you think your package may be lost, please get in touch and we will do our best to help you locate it or arrange a replacement.

Canada Post Labour Disruption

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, shipping delays are expected. We are using alternative carriers for most addresses to minimize disruptions and will select the most cost-effective option for your order.

Please note:
We cannot ship to PO Boxes at this time.
Rural addresses may experience significant delays due to limited service availability.

Orders over $150CAD, before tax and after discounts, qualify for free Canada Post Expedited Parcel™ or FedEx Express Saver® shipping. Please note that oversized orders weighing more than 40lbs and PO Box addresses may incur additional shipping costs once the order is packed and weighed.

Unfortunately we are not able to ship to all international locations. We are currently only offering Canada Post's Xpresspost and Tracked Packet International services. You can find an updated list of Canada Post's service availability here.

All international shipping options, with the exception of Lettermail, include tracking. Duties, taxes, and import charges are the responsibility of the purchaser and will be charged to you upon delivery.

We have temporarily suspended shipping to EU countries as we work to comply with the new GPSR Regulations. We will update the shipping & returns page as soon as we have more information. 


We offer curbside pickups from our East Van warehouse.
 

Your order will be ready for pickup within 2 business days.  Orders placed during and directly following a sale may take longer to fulfill. Please wait for the e-mail confirmation that your order is ready for pickup prior to coming to our warehouse. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Pickups are available during our business hours of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. We are closed on weekends and stat holidays.

To access the warehouse, there are two front steps to reach our main lobby level. At this time we are unable to provide wheelchair access so please contact us at info@blackbirdfabrics.com for our phone number to call us upon arrival.

Customs, Duties, and Taxes

Effective May 2, 2025, the United States will end duty-free de minimis treatment for goods from China and Hong Kong. All goods of Chinese origin imported into the U.S. will be subject to applicable duties and tariffs. Please be aware that when the removal of duty-free entry goes into effect, all duties, taxes, and import charges are the responsibility of the purchaser and will be charged to you on or prior to delivery via your shipping provider.

We’ve added a collection on our website for goods that are not made in China — these will continue to qualify for duty-free entry to the U.S. under the $800 USD de minimis exemption.

Due to high order volumes, our current order fulfillment lead time is 6 business days

Orders under $800USD containing items of non-Chinese origin will continue to ship tariff and duty free. Please note that the situation is evolving daily and details are subject to change. We will continue to update this space as new information arises.

RETURNS

We want you to love your new fabric order! If you have received an incorrect item or there is a mistake in your order, please email us at info@blackbirdfabrics and we will make things right.

All sales are final. Once an order has been placed and the fabric has been cut, we cannot accept refunds or exchanges for other products in the store.

We do our best to ensure the colour of the fabric online matches as closely as possible to the bolt in the shop. We shoot our photographs in natural light and agonize over the exact shade and colour description in our photos and fabric listings. However, due to the vast colour variances in every monitor and mobile device, we cannot guarantee the colour will be an exact match to what you see online. Ordering a fabric swatch on the fabric product page is the best way to make sure that you are getting exactly the colour and texture you want.

Our care instructions come straight from our distributors or fabric manufacturers. Please follow the care instructions found on the label and in the product listing as we are unable to accept returns for fabric that has been damaged in the washing process or laundered incorrectly.
