Behind the Scenes: Our Blackbird Exclusive Block Print Collection

Allow us to introduce our collection of Block Printed Organic Cotton Poplin and Cotton Canvas, this time with a signature Blackbird Exclusive spin! Each of these motifs are printed by hand using traditional wood block printing techniques and azo-free dyes which result in a beautiful, subtle variation in shades and a true hand-crafted appearance.

Block prints Our first iteration of our Wavy Gingham print featured in our Swimwear collection was such an instant fan-favourite that we decided to translate it for wovens as a block printed design! Now featured on an Organic Cotton Poplin base, this spunky print comes in three different colourways that we can't wait to sew up. Check out the blocks they use to make this design below! Block Prints We were so thrilled at the opportunity to work more closely with our supplier in Sanganer, Jaipur, India, who was responsible for making our classic Block Printed Organic Cotton Batistes, to develop this range of playful checks and wavy ginghams in a variety of fun, custom colour combinations. Block Prints We love how the natural variation in these designs showcase the hand-crafted nature of block printing! Every inch of these fabrics has been stamped by hand and that human touch truly makes these prints incredibly special. Printed on 100% organic cotton poplin and 100% cotton canvas bases, these beautiful wovens are perfect for a variety of trans-seasonal makes that will take you through to the cooler months ahead.
