Meet the Team: Kirsten, Our Warehouse Supervisor
Meet Kirsten, our warehouse supervisor! During the day, Kirsten can be found on the cutting room floor, unpacking the latest fabric pallets, counting fabric inventory, and organizing our warehouse.
Fiercely creative, Kirsten has experience in metal fabrication, fabric dyeing, soap making, and woodworking. She has been sewing for over a decade, with a strong background in quilting. Kirsten loves working with black and white linens to create show-stopping colour blocking moments like this one!
Come along as we ask her a few questions about her latest hobby and her love of all things outdoors!
Your quilt sewing skills are amazing! Recently, you've also started to sew garments and have now made several pieces! What is your go-to favourite pattern so far?
K: I love the Wrap Skirt from Peppermint Magazine. It's such a speedy and easy sew! And, it's a practical staple to have in a wardrobe. I love how great it looks and can be worn on any day.
I'm wearing the Olive Dress by Untitled Thoughts today. I really like the deep 'V' back that's been perfect for this hot summer!
What do you listen to while sewing at home or cutting fabric at work?
K: I love a good podcast and right now, 'You're Wrong About' is my favourite. It's an informative debunking social myths podcast but also fun and interesting to listen to! I enjoy all kinds of music and I can't wait until we can have concerts again. Currently, I'm into Minnie Riperton, Sleep, Amanaz, Dilly Dally, Yawn, Saweetie, Kikagaku Moyo, and Durand Jones & the Indications. Oh, and who can resist a little bit of Taylor Swift every now and then?
Finally, what is your ideal weekend?
K: My ideal weekend depends on the weather! I love spending time indoors, enjoying pizza and wine while watching trashy reality TV during cold and rainy seasons. But once the sun's out, you'll find me outdoors bike riding, hiking, and swimming in lakes! Oh, and baths, I'm down for a relaxing bath to unwind on any weekend.
